I hope you can see the photo I’ve attached. When I walked into the North Lobby at work on Monday morning, that is what I saw. In keeping with Danny’s new sermon series on the Attributes of God, this tri-stand has been set up for people to share how God has revealed Himself. Walking past it once is interesting, twice is intriguing, after that it’s been VERY thought-provoking. I think it will only become more intense for me as the series goes on.
Additionally, tonight when I left work I came home and went straight for a long, hot bath. I decided to listen to a sermon I missed a couple of Sunday nights ago – from Bryan Gunn. Turns out Bryan used the sermon to challenge us to start fresh in our perceptions of who God is, like Abram had to do in Gen 12. Although he made plenty of mistakes, God viewed Abram as His friend. Imagine that!!! God can do that because of who He is and that He chooses to redeem us because HE WANTS TO!!! He wants a relationship with me.
How does this make me feel? Loved, Secure, Confident, Encouraged, Never Alone
Praying that I remember this for more than a few minutes. Humming the song, “I am a Friend of God”
John 15:11-17 The Message
“I’ve told you these things for a purpose: that my joy might be your joy, and your joy wholly mature. This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you. This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends. You are my friends when you do the things I command you. I’m no longer calling you servants because servants don’t understand what their master is thinking and planning. No, I’ve named you friends because I’ve let you in on everything I’ve heard from the Father.
“You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won’t spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you.
“But remember the root command: Love one another.
