Most refugees arriving in China, which are 75 percent women, usually end up in the hands of “brokers”. Brokers are a “necessary evil”, claims Kim, who’s missionary on the Chinese border often deals with brokers to pay for refugees. Once in Kim’s care, the refugees are provided information on how to utilize the “Underground Railroad” to successfully navigate to South Korea.
